The Vincent Boys - Abbi Glines

Title: The Vincent Boys
Author: Abbi Glines
Type: Young Adult/ Romance

"Ashton is getting tired of being good, of impressing her parents and playing ideal girlfriend to Sawyer Vincent. Sawyer is perfect, a regular Prince Charming, but when he leaves town for the summer, it’s his cousin Beau who catches Ashton’s eye. Beau is the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, and even though he’s dangerous, Ashton is drawn to him.

Beau loves his cousin like a brother, so the last thing he wants to do is make a move on Sawyer’s girl. Ashton is off-limits, absolutely. That’s why he does his best to keep his distance, even though he’s been in love with her forever. When Ashton wants to rekindle their childhood friendship in Sawyer’s absence, Beau knows he should say no.

Ashton and Beau don’t want to hurt Sawyer. But the more they try to stay away from each other, the more intense their urges become. It’s getting way too hard to resist." (Source: GoodReads.com)

My opinion on the book:

I started reading this book and then somehow ended up putting it aside. I decided reading The Vincent Brothers after finishing a couple of good book series and I figured this one wasn't as entertaining and upbeat as the other ones - therefore I got bored and put it aside. A week or so later, I decided to continue the book and finish it so I can write a review for you guys. I finished it in a couple of hours - it's a very fast read.

The story starts off as any other romance books - a love triangle. You have Ashton, Beau and Sawyer, all inseparable childhood friends. Somehow Ashton ends up with Sawyer but this relationship is not made for her. For the past three years Ashton was pretending to be someone else, a good, respectful girl, who is always composed and calm. This catches up with her when Sawyer leaves the town for almost the whole summer. During this time as if you didn't already guess she retakes her friendship relationship with Beau (OH and did I tell you that Beau and Sawyer were cousin? OK now you know)

Obviously there two get very close and their friendship evolves into something more. Ashton realizes that with Beau she doesn't have to be someone different, she can finally be herself - and on top of that, Beau loves the true Ashton!

I gave this book a 3.5/5 because it didn't wowed me. It was very predictable but then again it's a very short romance story. The characters and the environment are very well described. For me it felt like a hot summer day all book long. And no, I'm not talking just about the temperature but also because it is quite a steamy book:

"Beau's gaze made my cheeks flush. A pleased grin touched his lips and I suddenly wanted to know how those lips would feel pressed against mine. I couldn't take my eyes off them……"You're gonna have to stop doing that Ash," Beau whispered huskily and closed the space between us. His body was suddenly pressed against mine……."Ash, I'm trying real hard to be good…….Please remember I've got my limits and you studying my mouth like you want a taste is pushing me dangerously close to the edge of those limits."

Overall I liked the book and I will read the sequel as well. I gave it a 3.5 maybe because it was predictable but then again at the rate I'm reading books they will all become predictable any time soon.  If you're looking for a fast, romantic fast read - give it a try!
