Title: Crescendo
Author: Becca Fitzpatrick
Genre: Young Adult/ Urban Fantasy
Synopsis:
“Nora Grey's life is still
far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at
least she got a guardian angel out of it. A mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous
guardian angel. But despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting
anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever (if that's possible) and
what's worse, he seems to be spending time with Nora's archenemy, Marcie
Millar.
Nora would have hardly
noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if
Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating
attitude, Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feelings that
he is hiding something.
If that weren't enough, Nora
is haunted by images of her murdered father, and comes to question whether her
Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death. Desperate to figure out
what happened, she puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations to get the
answer. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could
destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts” (Source: GoodReads.com)
Crescendo is the sequal of an amazing book that I loved
dearly Hush Hush. (Click the link to see that review) I was happy to see the story goes on within four different books. In
this second book we get to know a different side of Patch and Nora, both
together as well as individuals. Since Nora and Patch get into a fight, and Scott,
an old childhood friend is in town, they both drift apart. Or so you think but
Patch always kept an eye over Nora. In this book we also see a jealous side of
Nora, especially when she realized that Patch and Marcie are getting close. In
case you haven’t read the first book, Marcie is Nora’s school enemy.
Ever since sixth grade, they keep fighting over childish things that made one
more popular than the other. When Nora sees Patch together with Marcie, things
get out of control and she tries spying on them. And not only. She is also
spying on Scott, who she thinks is hiding something. There are a lot of new
secrets but also other things that are being discovered in this sequel.
I believe in this book we see all characters grow, since
they had to overcome a lot of troubles from the first book. I really enjoyed
reading about Scott’s character, which will become more and more important in
the other sequels. I liked Nora’s fighting and strong spirit, in order to get
Patch back, but we clearly see her struggling with her true meaning in life and
the small family she has left.
I give this book an A as well, just because Hush Hush is
one of my favorite series. I did get mad at time because Patch and Nora were
both being stupid and fighting for no reason but I really liked it overall.
Get it on Amazon, or on your E-reader.
Happy reading!
Xoxo, Diana
You know I have the first three books in this series on my shelf but haven't gotten to them yet. I need to make a point to at least start this series in the new year.
